Free admission creates an opportunity to discover art without the price of a ticket being a barrier. A visit to the gallery can thus become a natural part of leisure time, a space for shared experiences with family and friends, as well as for individual encounters with art.
“We have been considering free admission together with our colleagues for some time. In the end, our first SNG Open Day in September convinced us. It was a great success and brought a large number of visitors to the gallery. I therefore believe that free admission days will contribute to making art more accessible while also providing an opportunity to spend free time in a meaningful way,” adds SNG Director General Juraj Králik.
The first Sunday of each month offers visitors the opportunity to slow down, find inspiration, and explore the permanent exhibitions and current shows at their own pace. With this initiative, SNG aims to encourage regular engagement with art among the wider public and foster a relationship with the gallery as an open space for everyone.
